Need HVAC service in the Dallas–Fort Worth area?
Calls are answered by an independent HVAC provider from a referral network, not by the contractors listed in this directory. The publisher may be paid when a call is connected.
Three checks before signing
Look up the licence
Enter the licence number from the listing in the TDLR search. The name should match and the licence should be current.
See the insurance certificate
A licence is not an insurance policy. Ask the contractor to show a current certificate of insurance for the job.
Compare written estimates
A written estimate should name the equipment, its capacity and what is included. With two of them side by side, the differences are easy to see.
Where the listings come from
Nothing here is an advertisement or a ranking. The directory repeats, in a readable form, what the State of Texas publishes about its licensed air conditioning contractors.
State records only
The source is the licence data set of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), published on the Texas Open Data Portal. No review site and no contractor contributes to it.
Licences that are current
Expired licences are left out, and so are licences limited to commercial refrigeration. What remains are contractors licensed for Environmental Air Conditioning, alone or under the Combined endorsement.
One county per licence
TDLR records a business county and no street address. Each contractor is filed under that county. It shows where the business is declared, and says nothing certain about how far it travels.
Questions people ask
Which contractors are listed?
Holders of a Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor licence that is not expired, with an Environmental Air Conditioning or Combined endorsement, whose business county is one of the eleven counties of the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
Is the list a ranking?
No. Contractors appear in alphabetical order inside each county. The directory does not rate, review or recommend anyone.
What do Class A and Class B tell me?
The size of equipment the licence covers. Class A has no limit. Class B covers cooling systems of 25 tons and under and heating systems of 1.5 million BTU per hour and under.
Where is the contractor's phone number?
The state registry does not publish one, and neither does this directory. It gives a business county, a licence number, a class, an endorsement and an expiration date.
What happens if I call the number on this site?
You reach an independent HVAC provider from a referral network, not one of the contractors listed here. The publisher may be paid when the call is connected.
Did the contractors ask to be listed?
No. The listings come from public state records. Nobody applied, nobody paid, and the contractors listed have no partnership with this site.
A listing is wrong. What can I do?
Send the licence number through the Contact page and the listing will be corrected or removed by hand. To change the licence record itself, contact TDLR.
